The First Edition of the Monograph on Privacy and Data Protection Law in Mexico that I coauthored with my colleague and friend Maria Solange Maqueo was published by Wolters Kluwer last November 2022. This monograph (573 pages) which is part of the series Privacy and Technology Law of the International Encyclopaedia of Laws (IEL), a renowned publication coordinated by honorary Professor Jos Dumortier is now available for purchase in hardcopy on the website of Wolters Kluwer.

Special thanks to Marc Rotenberg President of CAIDP.Org who drafted the Foreword and to Gustavo Parra Noriega, Information and Data Protection Commissioner at Mexico’s INFOEM who drafted the Preface of this first edition of the Monograph, respectively.

This monograph aims to provide readers and law practitioners with the most updated information on legal and policy developments on privacy and data protection in Mexico. The authors aim that the current monograph can be used as a complementary source to provide and support legal services, fulfill regulatory compliance obligations, support research and academic teaching, among other relevant activities for professionals in the field of data privacy. The approach of this monograph is more practical oriented as it seeks to fill an existing gap since there are no current specialized publications in English concerning the status quo of privacy and data protection regulation in Mexico.
